For the second time, after " The Butcher Boy ", Neil Jordan filmed a novel by Patrick McCabe . In it, the Irish author draws cheerful as well as drastic episodes from the (fictional) life of the young Irish transvestite Patrick "Kitten" Braden, who became famous on the street around Piccadilly Circus in London in the 1970s brings. Patrick was born in 1958 in Tyreelin, near the border with Northern Ireland. Seen from a distance, the sleepy nest looks like a postcard idyll, but this impression is deceptive. Patrick is a foundling - the result of a “misstep” by the village priest.His mother, who worked as a housekeeper for Father Bernard and was raped by him, has disappeared since the birth.
